Journeymen Families,
We had another great day learning and reviewing our material. As someone pointed out, we're more than halfway there with filling the Memory Marble jar- way to go! Keep practicing and practicing at home. It is great fun when everyone can get a marble for each review item.
The presentations by Meredith and Hope were very well planned out with lots of exciting visuals. Great use of voice control as we heard about Baby Luke and Kenya. We're looking forward to hearing from Maren, Peytra, Gabe, Ryan and Katie next week! Make sure to give yourselves presentation practice credit on your Learning Logs. The kids can initial the practices as well as the drilling and map practice on the back of the sheets, and then parents can sign once at the bottom of the front side. Take two weeks to fill in one Learning Log and I will collect them every other week. We should be ready to spend some Classical Cash on Week 6!
I will highlight a few memory tips for this week:
Science: The natural CYCLES are the water cycle, nitrogen cycle and carbon & oxygen cycle. I had a visual with a big waterdrop riding a bicycle, a bicycle leaned up against a corn stalk, and an ox riding a bicycle with a nearby car spewing carbon.
Geography: We finished our Row, Row, Row Your Boat with the European Rivers and Cities combined.
Po, Po, Po Danube
Seine, Rhine, Elbe
London, Paris, Rome
Orleans
Barce-low-na
The kids are really understanding the river locations! Practice locating the rivers and cities in relation to each other for a more complete comprehension.
Math: We didn't have a lot of time for reviewing the 8's in class. The facts are becoming more difficult as the numbers increase! We will have another math review with candy markers in the near future!
Fine Arts: We spent time looking at abstract vs realistic elephants and the kids did well in pointing out the differences. Next they each put great effort into drawing their own abstract elephant which I will mount on black paper and return next week.
Enjoy the rest of the week! Contact me with any questions or concerns.
Blessings,
Mrs Shaw
